Learn the classic hand order
Start with 6 categories, from stronger to weaker: trail, pure sequence, sequence, colour, pair and high card. A trail has three cards of the same rank. A pure sequence has three consecutive cards of one suit. Read the rules of the mode you select for ace order and exact ties.
Practice one hand at a time
Use a practice or social table when your chosen game offers one. Identify the category of your three cards before making an in-game decision. Compare category first, then the relevant card ranks. Set a session limit before starting.
Example: K♠ K♥ 4♦ is a pair of kings. Q♠ J♥ 10♦ is a sequence and ranks above that pair in the common classic order. Check the table’s ace and tie rules before applying examples to a particular mode.
